Neighbourhood House

The Old Courthouse Community Centre receives Victorian State Government funding to provide Neighbourhood House services.We are a member of the South West Network of Neighbourhood Houses that comprise of Casterton, Portland, Hamilton, Camperdown, Pt Fairy, Warrnambool and Simpson.  Neighbourhood Houses Victoria is the peak body that represents the sector.

This centre is an important hub, the committee and staff live locally ensuring our services are coordinated by people who understand and care about their community...

Under the Neighbourhood House banner are the: 

  • Men’s Shed 
  • Be Connected - Free Online training area with tutor assistance
  • Free internet Access
  • Craft and local produce shop
  • Every Wednesday at 10am Craft and Quiz morning  
  • With funding provided by the Glenelg Shire we also offer School Holiday activities
  • Community Jigsaw
  • Kids Corner - toys, computers, books and beanbags.

 

This centre connects the community by offering a wide range of volunteering, social and specific pre-accredited training activities. Both buildings are used by the community consistently and we offer photocopying and administration support.

The Men’s Shed would like to welcome new members.
New skills always welcome.
The Men’s Shed do a lot of work for the Community.  We are going to trial doing Men’s Shed one day a week (Wednesday) and do a Community Workshop on a Thursday where Ladies are welcome to come and do their own projects or get help with something they are working on.

Tax Help and Volunteer Coordination are facilitated through our Social Support Coordinator.
